Cover Leather Options

Choose between two tiers. Color options shown below are the standard offerings. Any colors outside of the standard offering may require an up-charge.

Standard Leather | River Grain Goat Included

Durable vegetable-tanned goatskin selected for everyday use—excellent strength-to-thickness and a clean, classic finish. This is a high quality Grade-A skin from a supplier with over a century of renowned work.

This leather is fully pigmented, embossed and the grain of the leather was never buffed. The supplier prizes the fact that this leather never comes into contact with metal contaminants like chrome that would compromise its integrity.

This leather is a great choice thanks to its quality and affordability. It pairs well with a leather liner and is meticulously pared in order not to compromise its quality and durability.
  • Tannage: Vegetable-tanned (chrome-free)
  • Feel/Look: Smooth, traditional appearance
  • Best for: Daily carry, clean minimal builds
Premium Leather | Genuine Sokoto Goat Premium

Archival-grade goatskin chosen for long-term performance—exceptional tooling response and a refined, heirloom finish.

This leather has a two-stage process that is bound in historical tradition and authenticity, and comes from a single source with a Classical Full Grain. This leather strictly adheres to the classical definition of "Full Grain" and resists powdering, cracking, and surface failure found in many imitation "Sokoto" leathers.

Each Skin bought from the supplier comes with a Certificate Of Authenticity and meets the strict standards of museums and conservation centers worldwide.
  • Tannage: Vegetable-tanned (archival-oriented)
  • Finish: Natural/aniline (excellent for fine work)
  • Best for: Heirloom rebinds, premium finishing

Liner Leather

The Liner is the leather on the inside of the cover (the leather you see when you open the Bible).

Standard Liner | Vegetable Goat Included

A smooth, flexible vegetable-tanned goatskin liner chosen for durability and a clean interior finish. It pairs well with River Grain covers and works great for everyday builds.

  • Use: Inside cover leather (turn-ins + paste-down area)
  • Feel: Smooth + flexible
  • Endpapers: Solid, color-matched (unless requested otherwise)
Premium Liner | Smooth Historical Goat Premium

A higher-grade liner option chosen for an heirloom interior finish—excellent feel in-hand and a refined look. Recommended when you’re doing a premium cover build and want the interior to match that level.

  • Use: Inside cover leather (turn-ins + paste-down area)
  • Feel: Extra refined + premium finish
  • Endpapers: Color-matched, solid (unless requested otherwise)
